Evaluation of Child to Child initiative in South London 2002 | |||

The Child to Child initiative was a three-year programme initiated by the Community Health South London (CHSL) Trust in 2000, funded by Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham Health Action Zone (HAZ). It was set up to develop and promote the use of Child to Child within the local area, providing professionals with the skills they needed to work in partnership to support 9-12 year old children to conduct projects to improve the health of their community. | |||

Improving Teaching through Health Education in Pakistan | |||

Adapted from Kassam-Khamis and Muzzafar Bhutta’s article, ‘Affecting schools through a health education initiative in Partnerships in Educational Development’, this is a case study of five schools in Pakistan which implemented their own school health action plan in 2006. The research shows how Child to Child’s approach had positive impacts on children, teachers and the wider community in regard to their understanding of health. | |||

Le Livre des Ressources – Modules d’activités enfant-à-enfant | |||

Ce Livre des Ressources a été publié en 1992 et a été traduit en 31 langues puis réédité en 2007 pour y inclure de nouveaux modules – “Jouer avec les jeunes enfants” et “Comment le VIH et le SIDA affectent la vie des enfants”. Il est constitué de neufs modules d’activités, chacun proposant plusieurs feuilles d’activités originales qui détaillent étape par étape le processus d’enseignement et d’apprentissage. Il promeut une approche Enfant à Enfant; il s’agit d’enseigner les questions de santé en encourageant la participation active des enfants dans le processus d’enseignement, afin qu’ils pratiquent ce qu’ils apprennent. | |||
Life Skills Education Toolkit for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in India | |||

Dr. Sonal Zaveri, Family Health International (FHI) and Child to Child consultant, led the process of putting together this Life Skills Education Toolkit in 2007, drawing from the 37 projects implemented by FHI in India. The Toolkit has been developed for organisations which work with orphans and vulnerable children, to provide essential skills for children in the project areas to prevent them from acquiring STIs/HIV/AIDS and to help them cope with HIV infection. The Toolkit is a comprehensive package comprised of a Facilitator’s Guide, Life skills education Modules, Information Sheets and a list of Resources for further reading and reference. | |||

The Child to Child Resource Book is one of the most widely used Child to Child publications. Its popularity led it to be translated and adapted into 31 languages. This Resource Book targets practitioners, trainers, advocates of children’s participation and others. It contains Activity Sheets, which are designed to serve as a model for them to adapt and create materials that suit the context and realities specific to the countries in which they work. The process of adapting, improving and creating materials is an important vehicle through which we can deliver quality health education that encourages meaningful children’s participation in health and development. We hope this book is a valuable step in making the goal of delivering quality health education a reality for the world’s children. | |||
