Child to Child Director Tricia Young resigns

After 8 years of incredible work, Tricia Young has decided to resign as Director of Child to Child. We cannot thank Tricia enough for the dedication, passion, and enthusiasm she has poured into the organisation during her time at the helm.

As Director of Child to Child, Tricia led the organisation through a period of transformation and modernisation, overseeing implementation of award-winning programmes and expanding our networks and partnerships. She co-chaired Bond’s Child Rights Working Group, which is working closely with the UK Department for International Development to support the development of its new Protecting Children’s Hub.

Among other projects, she steered us through the redesign of our Pikin to Pikin Tok project in Sierra Leone, after the original programme had been halted because of the Ebola outbreak in 2014. The innovative radio-education programme has been lauded by different organisations, most recently by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as an example of successful collaboration across sectors to promote women’s and adolescent’s health.

Tricia was also heavily involved in the London-based Hearing All Voices programme, where we worked with disadvantaged youth with a migrant, asylum seeker or refugee background. Incredibly, this programme has also just been selected by the WHO as an example of good practice.

In the last couple of years, Tricia’s outreach helped forge new relations for Child to Child, and secured funding for the organisation to undertake a critical strategic review process. We are now well placed to learn from this review and implement the changes that are needed to strengthen our place as a pioneer in the child participation movement.

We know that in her new role as CEO of Terre des Hommes UK she will have the opportunity to continue her vital work to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. On behalf of the team, we would like to wish her well on her new journey.

Tricia is leaving Child to Child in the capable hands of Teresa Sguazzin, who will be taking over as Interim-Director.
