Director Tricia and Trustee Susan took an inspirational trip to Ethiopia, where they saw the incredible impact of our Getting Ready for School programme. GRS has been taken to scale and is reaching more than 500.000 children!
In March 2015 we launched a new educational radio programme in Sierra Leone to enhance children’s social, numeracy, literacy and life skills. Radio is a medium of education that both minimises the risk of Ebola transmission and allows larger numbers of beneficiaries to be reached.
Since 2013 Child to Child has been implementing an adapted version of Getting Ready for School in post-disaster areas in Pakistan in collaboration with local partner,the Teachers’ Resource Centre. The project also incorporates a focus on disaster risk reduction.
Since 2011 Child to Child has been working in the very remote and isolated district of Kailahun in eastern Sierra Leone with local partner – Pikin to Pikin – implementing an adapted version of Getting Ready for School.
Between 2007-2010 Child to Child worked with UNICEF to pilot a school readiness programme ‘Getting Ready for School’ in six countries: Bangladesh, China, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Tajikistan and Yemen.
