Adapted from Kassam-Khamis and Muzzafar Bhutta’s article, ‘Affecting schools through a health education initiative in Partnerships in Educational Development’, this is a case study of five schools in Pakistan which implemented their own school health action plan in 2006. The research shows how Child to Child’s approach had positive impacts on children, teachers and the wider community in regard to their understanding of health.

This manual describes a series of Child to Child activities designed to be carried out with children to involve them in avoiding risks and mitigating the consequences of disasters, in order to make children’s and young people’s lives safer and better by: raising awareness of the risks that children encounter in their surroundings; helping children play an active role in reducing the risks and dangers in their lives; and helping children learn how to protect themselves.
