This manual was designed for those who wish to support and work with orphans and vulnerable children using the Child-to-Child approach. The Child-to-Child approach encourages children and young people to play an active role in the promotion of their own well-being as well as that of other children, their families and their communities. In addition, this approach allows children to increase their skills, confidence, self-esteem and to work together increasing their feelings of solidarity with the other children in the group. In turn, this increases their resilience or ability to deal with the difficulties in their lives. In this manual, we discuss the needs of vulnerable children which are frequently not met. In fact, vulnerable children have the same needs as other children, but they are more likely to not have those needs met, and as a result take risks in trying to meet them themselves. This can make them even more vulnerable, and even put their future at risk. | |||
Children in War: the role of Child to Child activities in the therapy and care of unaccompanied children | |||

This publication looks at the issues facing unaccompanied children and the high vulnerability of their situation. It looks at the systems that can or cannot be put in place to cope and explores the use of Child to Child activities as a means of assisting with such issues as post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD). It also assesses how Child to Child can reduce dependency on expatriate workers and induce sustainability in refugee relief centres. | |||

MINT Mentoring Methodological Framework | |||

Migrant children and youth are especially vulnerable to social exclusion. Through the MINT Project, Terre des hommes and its partners aim to empower refugee and migrant children, as well as European youth, to engage in new integration activities. Child to Child was commissioned to develop a Mentoring Methodological Framework for the MINT project, which has wide applicability across contexts. This is currently a living document that shall be added to during the course of the project, based on experience. However, it does provide guidelines for addressing programme design; mentoring in practice; and cross-cutting considerations like child participation, gender equity and cultural sensitivity.
