Life Skills Education Resources
This section has resources that illustrate the use of the Child to Child approach in promoting life skills for children while spanning themes like child protection and education. They include materials from the following projects:

This offers insight into what can happen when there is a radical shift in the relationships between adults and young people, a shift which disrupts the traditional power dynamics typically found in educational settings. | |||

This toolkit was developed as part of the Blue Cross Alcohol Prevention Program for Children in collaboration with Child to Child and field experience and lessons learned in the Kisumu, Kenya pilot program indicates that the LSE Program (implemented with children in four schools since 2018) has led to promising changes in knowledge, behavior and attitudes among children, young people and through their interaction, in their families and communities. The Toolkit is a comprehensive package comprised of: a) Facilitators’ Training Manual - The Alcohol Prevention Life Skills Education Facilitators’ Training Manual was designed to train adult facilitators who are planning to use the Life Skills Education (LSE) Toolkit and conduct LSE sessions with children. UK Child to Child Initiative with marginalised pupils Pilot Report | |||

In 2011 Child to Child initiated a pilot project ‘A participatory action-based approach to empower and integrate marginalised pupils’ in South London, which involved a series of weekly child-to-child activities for refugee and asylum-seeking children. This evaluation report shows that the project outcomes have been achieved; pupils have improved their language, communication and life skills, along with their engagement with the school and community. | |||
UNGEI Case Study: Child Centred Education through Radio Project in Sierra Leone | |||

The Pikin to Pikin Tok education through radio project has been recognised by the UN Girls Education Initiative (UNGEI) for its transformative impact on girls’ education, and the way in which gender issues are addressed in communities in post-Ebola Sierra Leone. This case study was commissioned to document how effectively radio was used as a means to deliver:
The study was conducted by researchers from the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), Pikin to Pikin Movement and Child to Child. Findings include powerful examples of how messages on issues from teen pregnancy to hand-washing were relayed and retained, and how learning from the Story Time and Under the Mango Tree programmes was linked to the real lives of children. | |||
