A New Director for Child to Child
September 2010
Child to Child is very pleased to welcome Tricia Young as the new Director.

Tricia came to Child to Child following a decade working for a diverse range of organisations in the UK NGO sector, the common thread being a commitment to realising the rights of disenfranchised populations. Beginning her career with a focus on disengaged black and minority ethnic communities, Tricia worked for the Finsbury Park Community Trust in Tottenham, providing capacity development support to small community based organisations attempting to engage alienated young people. Whilst at Finsbury Park Community Trust she completed her MSc in Voluntary Sector Organisation at the London School of Economics.
She moved on to become the Youth and Community Sector Programme Manager at the Shoreditch New Deal Programme, whilst simultaneously working as a detached Youth Worker for the London Borough of Camden. After only one year, Tricia took on the newly created Capacity Building Programme Manager role at the Aston Centre for Voluntary Action Research (later to become the Institute for Voluntary Action Research [IVAR]). Tricia remained at IVAR as both an employee and a freelancer until 2008, working on a variety of action research studies including a two year study exploring grass roots activities to build bridges between diverse ethnic and religious communities.
Tricia left IVAR to work as a Programme Manager at the Tutu Foundation UK, setting up their first programme of work engaging young people in or at risk of conflict. Whilst working at the Tutu Foundation, Tricia established a small international NGO, Odanadi UK, to provide capacity building and financial support to a small, grassroots organisation working to combat human trafficking in India. She remains a trustee. At this time, she was also Chair of Eaves for Women, which runs the Poppy Project (the first NGO project established to meet the needs of women trafficked into the UK for the purposes of sexual and domestic exploitation).
Last year, Tricia had her daughter, Phoenix.
As Director of Child to Child, her mission at Child to Child is to develop the organisation so that it is fully capable of capitalising on its 30 years experience and realising its incredible potential. To this end, she is focused on developing the board of trustees, diversifying income and developing capacity to manage multiple and complex programmes.
We are excited to have Tricia on board for this new phase of our development.
